Add a LinkedIn step to your campaign when you want to approach candidates through LinkedIn. This is useful when you want to use a visible and direct outreach channel alongside email.
A LinkedIn step works especially well in campaigns where you first want to connect with candidates, send a short message, or add an extra follow-up next to email.
Where to find it
Open a campaign and add a step of the type LinkedIn message in the campaign builder.
In the LinkedIn step, you configure the target group, send moment, sender, and message content.
Set the send moment
At the top of the step, choose when the LinkedIn message should be executed. You can run the step as soon as a candidate reaches it, or only after a number of days or working days.
That lets you decide whether LinkedIn is the first contact moment or a follow-up after an earlier email step.
Choose the connection status
First choose which candidates the LinkedIn step may be sent to. You can choose:
- existing LinkedIn connections only;
- new connections only;
- everyone, regardless of connection status.
This choice determines whether NIXZ uses the step as a message to existing connections, a connection request to new contacts, or a general LinkedIn step within your campaign flow.
Choose the sender
In the From field, choose which LinkedIn account sends the message. You can select a previously connected account or connect a new LinkedIn account.
When you connect a new account, a popup window opens. There you can enter the LinkedIn login details or session cookies. If LinkedIn asks for it, you can also provide a two-factor authentication code.
After signing in, the account is connected and available for use by you or your colleagues, depending on your environment setup.
Write the message
In a LinkedIn step, you define the content of your message. Keep the message short, personal, and clear. LinkedIn messages usually work better when it is immediately obvious why you are reaching out and why that is relevant to the candidate.
The maximum message length depends on your type of LinkedIn account, for example standard, Premium, Recruiter, or Sales Navigator. It also matters whether the message is a connection note or a message to an existing connection. A connection note is usually much shorter and often limited to around 200 characters.
Use AI and context
Use AI features only as support when writing your message. Just like with email steps, it remains important to review the final text yourself for tone, relevance, and credibility.
If your campaign is linked to a related vacancy, that vacancy context can help make LinkedIn messages fit the role you are hiring for more closely.
Show a preview
As with other campaign steps, you can show a preview based on a selected profile. This lets you check how your message looks for a specific candidate and whether any personalization comes across in a natural way.
Use this especially when you work with variables or AI-generated text, so you can confirm that the message fits the candidate profile.
Has the candidate already had contact?
If the candidate's chat history shows that contact already took place before or during the campaign, NIXZ automatically skips the LinkedIn step. This also applies to any following LinkedIn steps in the same campaign.
That prevents a candidate from being approached again on LinkedIn while a conversation is already ongoing or recent contact already took place. Email steps are still executed according to the configured campaign flow.
Use LinkedIn steps effectively
LinkedIn steps work best as short, focused contact moments within a broader campaign. For example, use them as a follow-up after an email, as a low-threshold connection request, or as an extra channel to make your message visible.
Keep your message compact and personal. Candidates often read LinkedIn messages quickly on mobile, so focus on one clear point: why you are reaching out and why it matters for the candidate.
Practical use
Before activating the campaign, check whether the correct connection status and connected account are set. Also keep an eye on the maximum message length, especially when you use AI because the message length can still vary. Review previews with multiple candidate profiles before you activate the campaign.
